Mr R G R

A note from the night sister dated 20 April 1888 states that Mr R (Residential House Clerk) was admitted by the night attendant on John Back Ward at 2.20 am. He found him wet through and not perfectly sober. The attendant assisted him with his coat and left him in the office; at 3.30 am the night sister heard him stumble up stairs to his room. Mr R responded to Mr Rawlings on 20 April 1888 “I did not understand that the rules as to the time of returning to the Hospital applied to me, and, as I cannot conform to them, beg to be released from my duties at your convenience.”
