Collected documents relating to the dispute between the medical staff and Board of Management 1900-1902 NHNN/A/33

Extract from letter to the Governors from the Board of Management

The Board have considered the recommendation as to the pension to be allotted to Mr Burford Rawlings, and are of opinion that the amount recommended by the Committee is insufficient and should be increased.

The Board are of opinion that the case is exceptional. The salary paid has not been large, when the duties and responsibilities with which Mr Rawlings has been entrusted are considered, together with the length and ungrudging nature of his service. During the 35 years since his appointment he has not missed attendance at a single meeting of the Governors, Board, or House Committee.
