Volunteers

A team of invaluable volunteers (including former employees of Queen Square: Liz Beech, Jackie Powell, Janet Townsend and George Kaim) have carried out work in areas such as scanning, indexing, curating, identification and research.

We are very sorry to announce that Jackie Powell died on 4th February 2024. Jackie worked in Queen Square for 42 years in the photographic department, having joined after she left school aged 17 in 1966, until her retirement as a Senior Medical Photographer in 2008.

She was also an active member of the Ladies’ Samaritan Society, as well as a valued volunteer in Queen Square Archives for many years, and was an inspiration to the many colleagues and students with whom she worked.

The staff of the Medical Illustration Unit provide expert services relating to image reproduction. The UCLH Trust archivist, and UCL Special Collections staff provide professional help and assistance, and access to the UCL CALM Database software.

Website and database design services are provided by Codev, digitisation services by Bespoke Archive Digitisation.
