This beautiful grandfather clock, held in the UCLH Archives in 250 Euston Road, features in the December 19th 1939 Board Minutes:
“It was agreed that when the Secretary [Hamilton] vacates his position at the Hospital on January 1st, that he shall take with him the grandfather clock in his room, on loan for his lifetime”
The minutes are referenced in Chapter 5 (Roller-coaster Ride and the National Hospital Rubs Along 1902–1945) of Queen Square: A History of the National Hospital and its Institute of Neurology as below:
“.. the Board minutes were full of … details: one that sticks in the mind is the discussion about whether the retiring secretary (Hamilton) could take the grandfather clock when he vacated his office; in the end it was allowed, as a permanent loan…”
