Description: The volume, which consists of mounted documents, includes report to the Governors of the National Hospital signed by seventeen members of the medical staff, criticising the administration of the Hospital and specifically the introduction of charges for outpatients, May 1900; circular letters from the Secretary-Director forwarding the report, June 1900; letter to the Governors of the National Hospital from the Board of Management announcing the holding of an inquiry in response to the statement of the medical and surgical staff, June 1900; report of Subcommittee of Inquiry, July 1900; copies of correspondence relating to the Metropolitan Hospital Sunday Fund, July 1900; Governors' proxy ballot paper on the resolution 'That it is inexpedient to grant the demand of the medical and surgical staff for direct reprsentation upon the Board', August 1900; items relating to the summoning by the Board of Management of a special general meeting of Governors and subscribers of the National Hospital, including voting ticket, August 1900; circular letter to the Governors from the Board of Management summarising the dispute, March 1901; items relating to special general meeting of Governors and subscribers, March 1901; report of the Committee of Inquiry chaired by Sir Edward Fry into the statement issued by the medical staff in May 1900, June 1901; items relating to the formation of a Committee of Governors to arrange for an enquiry into the affairs of the Hospital, June 1901; report to the Governors and members of the National Hospital of a Committee chaired by Melvill Green, including members of the Board of Management and medical staff, proposing new rules, November 1901; items relating to consideration of draft new rules for the constitution of the Hospital, November 1901 - January 1902; letter of the Board of Management to the Governors summarising their position on the controversy relating to the condition and constitution of the Hospital and expressing their concern about certain of the proposed new rules for the Hospital, December 1901.
