Description: Film showing Dr Peter Gautier-Smith, Chairman of the Medical Committee, giving a lecture entitled "The Past 40 years" in the Wolfson Lecture Theatre, on 15th November 1988. The lecture was followed by Professor C.D. Marsden FRS (1938-1998) delivering a lecture entitled ‘The Next 40 Years’. Dr Gautier Smith became a consultant at the National Hospital in 1962 and was Dean of the Institute of Neurology from 1975 – 1982. His main interests in neurology between 1962 and 1975 were in the clinical practice and the teaching of both undergraduate and post-graduate students and he also published numerous paper in medical journals on various aspects of neurology, culminating on a book entitled ‘Parasagittal and Flax Meningiomas’, published by Butterworth in 1970.
